Kew Fungarium Tour
16 October 2022

We were delighted to be hosted for a unique day of fungi and mycology at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Alongside Kew’s world-renowned collection of plants, their Fungarium contains over 1.2 million fungal specimens from across the globe, reflecting the importance of fungi as providers of food, medicines, enzymes and essential ecosystem services. Over 60 people joined guided tours of the Fungarium, mycology laboratories and listened to talks from Kew's Fungarium Collections Manager, Lee Davies, and guests. Highlights included guest speaker, 7 year-old Inara, as well as the chance to meet Bev, the Tarantula from Ecuador colonised by the spider-eating fungus Ophicordyceps caloceroides (!)
