About the event

We are delighted to host British-Korean-Japanese filmmaker and forager, Emily Smith, (@Down2forage). Emily will share her first-hand experience of Japan’s rich wild food culture.

Emily will discuss how she taught herself to forage, offering tips on how to reconnect with nature no matter where you are and how to incorporate wild food into your daily diet. She will also delve into Japan’s rich foraging culture, giving insight into how an appreciation of nature can inspire a slower, more mindful approach to life.

Earlier this year, London Fungus Network met Emily in her new home in the rural mountains of Higashiyoshino, Nara, shortly after she made the move from South London. Together, we explored the unique and beautiful landscape, searching for wild plants and fungi.

Emily also founded the Higashiyoshino Mushroom Society and will be serving tasters of her own foraged Japanese-inspired snacks.
